Antonyms
Many of you will have just received your child’s 11 plus results while others of you will be thinking of investing in tutoring to help prepare for next year. Your child will need to understand and apply their knowledge of antonyms in the 11 plus exam. Antonyms are necessary for the 11 plus. An antonym is a word that has the opposite meaning of another word. Understanding antonyms helps with vocabulary development and improves language comprehension. For example, the antonym of “happy” is “sad,” and the antonym of “hot” is “cold.”
Antonyms are often used to show contrast, clarify meaning, or describe a variety of situations. For 11+ exams, knowing antonyms will be necessary for verbal reasoning. Download our free antonym practice resource and please get in touch if you would like extra support!
