What are Prime Numbers?
A prime number is a natural number greater than 1 that is not a product of two smaller natural numbers. In other words, a prime number is only divisible by 1 and itself.
Key Points:
- The number 2 is the only even prime number because all other even numbers are divisible by 2.
- Prime numbers have exactly two distinct positive divisors: 1 and the number itself.
- All other numbers with more than two divisors are called composite numbers.
