Languages Tuition

Learning a second, or even third language, has many benefits. It not only opens the door to greater job opportunities, but also leads to a better understanding of the world as language helps you to explore other cultures, religions and traditions.

Research has shown that learning and mastering another language boosts your brain power and improves memory.

Since 2014, it has been compulsory for primary schools to teach a foreign language to children at KS2. The earlier a child starts to learn a foreign language, the better. At a young age, children experiment with words and sounds which is why it is an opportune time for them to explore and experiment with other languages.

KS2 Languages

Practical communication is the focus at KS2. We do not draw on our KS2 tutors here but, instead, recommend our fluent French tutors, Spanish tutors and German tutors who will advance your child’s learning to give them a head start for when they move to secondary school.

KS3 Languages

Your child can build on the existing foundations of the language that they learnt at KS2 in primary school, or they can select a new language. Our language tutors will work with your child to develop their grammar, vocabulary and linguistic competence. The experience will be ‘immersive’ and you will see rapid progress.

GCSE Languages

Your child will be taught and assessed in 4 areas: listening, speaking, writing and reading. The qualification is tiered- foundation and higher. The higher tier requires students to apply their knowledge and skills to more sophisticated grammar and linguistic structures.

A language tutor will help your child to understand, practise, and develop these structures. Unlike ESL, your child is unlikely to be speaking the second language while outside of the classroom so the more practice, the better.

We have the following language tutors:

  • French tutors
  • German tutors
  • Spanish tutors
  • Arabic tutors
  • Mandarin tutors
  • Persian tutors
  • Urdu tutors

A level Tutors

The transition from a GCSE language to an A level language can be difficult for some students. A level will build on what you have already learned at GCSE and will require you to ‘think’ in the chosen language and be more spontaneous rather than learning content by heart. We will match each learner with a qualified tutor who is fluent in the chosen foreign language to help bridge the two key stages of learning. The experience will be immersive.
